Reverie’ -a state of dreamlike contemplation, where imagination drifts freely between reality and vision.
___________
They used to call me a dreamer, as if it were a crime.
They said I was on autopilot, but I was just tired.
They said I lacked initiative, but I was afraid to do wrong.
They said I didn’t know enough, but I was afraid to ask.
They said I was incapable, but they never saw my capacity.
I wasn’t an overachiever. I needed space and time to learn and process.
So I stayed small. Quiet. Hoping they wouldn’t notice.
Society doesn’t want dreamers, it wants achievers.
So I quit. And now, I dream louder. Now, creativity is power.
Dreaming isn’t a weakness. It’s your greatest success.
Every child is an artist. The real challenge is staying one when you grow up.
____________
I get inspired by daydreaming and painting without overthinking. Let my heart speak. Go with the flow, without correcting. Keep on going intuitively. That’s what Reverie brought me and how I made this little piece.
What are you daydreaming about?
