‘Arion’ – god of birds, mother of parrots
In Greek mythology Arion, son of Poseidon, is an immortal winged thoroughbred, the fastest horse in the world with black and red manes.

“Only Paard Verzameld art challenges can make me come out of my comfort zone like this. Our inspiration was Frida Kahlo and a reference photo of Remco Van De Kruis.
I was overwhelmed by Frida’s colours and style and especially I liked her parrots. I didn’t know where to start and where it would end and that was really liberating. This painting was an adventure that grew during the process.

I used watercolour, 24kt gold leaf, real feathers.

And I painted at night again. I was so busy last weeks with my expo at Knokke Hippique and working as a vet and preparing my best friends wedding all at the same time that I really had no time for this challenge. But as I am suffering from ‘fomo’ and I always learn a lot from the challenges I couldn’t miss this. I think my coach session with Paard Verzameld has something to do with it too. (I can only recommend!) For some reasons I focus better at night, I have more inspiration, I’m more productive and more emotional connected with my work. I didn’t sleep a lot for weeks, but it was all so worth it.”
